Al Qasimi Foundation 2026 Doctoral Research Grants are a fully funded opportunity for PhD candidates in the research stage of their dissertations. Grants are available to PhD students of any nationality enrolled in an accredited university, either in the United Arab Emirates or overseas, and seek to inspire research contributing to policy‑making in the UAE. The grant covers all expenses related to field research in the UAE, including round‑trip airfare, accommodation for up to 12 months, a living stipend and support for research activities.
Recipients are required to contribute to the knowledge base by producing one to two working papers and presenting at least one presentation to the local research community. The program focuses on research centered on the United Arab Emirates, specifically Ras Al Khaimah.
Eligibility Criteria- Current enrollment as a PhD student at an accredited and recognized university.
- Minimum TOEFL iBT score of 85 or IELTS score of 6.5 if English is a secondary language.
- Completion of all PhD coursework and readiness to commence field research.
- Approved research proposal, or a proposal in the approval process, including a comprehensive literature review and detailed methodology.
- Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval from the applicant’s home institution.
- Research must focus on the UAE, specifically Ras Al Khaimah, as a significant focal point for data collection and analysis.
- Research addressing an education, public policy, or closely related social science issue.
- Potential topics include education, urban planning/development, public health, economic development, food access, and energy or environmental policy.
- Fully funded grant covering research expenses.
- Office space and general research support.
- Round‑trip airfare (up to 8,000 AED).
- Accommodation for up to 12 months with a monthly living stipend of 2,000 AED.
- Car rental provision: 2,000 AED per month (maximum 24,000 AED).
- Visa cost coverage up to 2,500 AED.
- UAE applicants receive a maximum award of 35,000 AED for direct project‑related research expenses.
