Overview
The Social Worker at our client plays a vital role in promoting the emotional, social, and academic well-being of students. The position involves providing counseling, crisis intervention, family outreach, and community liaison services to ensure that every student is supported to reach their full potential in a safe and nurturing environment.
Responsibilities- Student Support and Counseling
- Provide individual and group counseling to students facing personal, social, or academic challenges.
- Identify students at risk and develop intervention plans in collaboration with teachers, parents, and administrators.
- Support students in developing coping strategies, social skills, and positive behavior.
- Family and Community Engagement
- Serve as a liaison between school, home, and community resources.
- Conduct home visits and communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and concerns.
- Facilitate parent workshops on child development, behavior management, and emotional well-being.
- Collaboration and Consultation
- Work closely with teachers and staff to promote a positive and inclusive school climate.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings (e.g., student support team, behavior intervention committees).
- Provide training and guidance to teachers on social-emotional learning and classroom management strategies.
- Crisis Intervention
- Respond promptly to crises involving students or families (e.g., abuse, neglect, mental health issues).
- Provide immediate support and coordinate with relevant authorities or external agencies when necessary.
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with safeguarding and child protection policies.
- Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate and confidential case records.
- Prepare reports, assessments, and documentation as required by school policy or external agencies.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Social Work (BSW/MSW) or a related field.
- Certification or license in social work (if applicable by local regulations).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Empathy, patience, and the ability to build trust with children and families.
- Knowledge of child development, family systems, and community resources.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
- Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience working in a school or child-centered environment preferred.
