Make a lasting difference in the lives of children and families across North Idaho. As a Family Advocate with North Idaho College Head Start in Rathdrum, you’ll play a key role in supporting family well-being, helping parents identify goals, connect with resources, and actively engage in their child’s early education.
In this position, you’ll build trusted relationships through regular home visits, assist families in setting and achieving personal and educational goals, and provide guidance and referrals to resources. You’ll also help with family recruitment and enrollment, participate weekly in the classroom, facilitate parent meetings, and maintain accurate records to ensure quality services for every family. Working collaboratively with teachers, health staff, and community partners, you’ll support both children’s development and family success.
We’re looking for someone with a strong understanding of social services and family systems, exceptional communication and organizational skills, and a genuine passion for empowering families. Minimum Qualifications- Level I:
Associates degree in Social Services. - Level II:
Bachelor’s degree in Social Services. - Experience as a staff or volunteer in a preschool classroom.
- Register with Idaho STARS and participate in the professional development system.
- Meet all training and certification requirements for childcare licensing and Head Start Program Performance Standards.
- Maintain current Infant/child & Adult CPR and First Aid.
- Meet terms of Statement of Agreement/ Employment Declaration.
- Pass an enhanced criminal background check including fingerprinting, as required by Head Start Program Performance Standards and Child Care Licensing requirements, prior to first day of work.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with people from diverse ethnic, cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Working knowledge of computers and commonly used software for Internet and e-mail access, word processing and data collection and management.
- Positive approach to Early Childhood Development programs, health and social services.
- Demonstrated written, oral, and organizational skills.
- Understanding of theories of social work ethics, early childhood education and child and family development including family systems.
- Demonstrate professional ethics and confidentiality.
- Represent the Head Start program in the community and with other professionals, positively and with professionalism.
Starting pay range: $20.50 - $21.50
