ABOUT
THE ROLE - MECHANICAL COMMISSIONING ENGINEER Report to Hook - up and commissioning SPT, the Commissioning Engineer – Mechanical/Piping is responsible for overseeing the mechanical and piping pre - commissioning and commissioning activities to ensure systems are safe, complete, and operational as per project requirements. This includes planning, executing, and managing the mechanical and piping commissioning works across rotating and static equipment, utility systems, and process piping.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise flushing, cleaning, hydrostatic/pneumatic testing, air blowing, and leak tests of piping systems.
Support installation checks and pre - startup verifications for pumps, compressors, vessels, exchangers, and piping.
Ensure correct alignment, grouting, bolt torquing, and lubrication of rotating equipment. Witness equipment rotation, vibration checks, and functional tests per OEM procedures.
Confirm piping and mechanical system integrity, system reinstatement, and punch list clearance.
Planning & Coordination Prepare commissioning procedures, test packs, and checklists for mechanical/piping systems.
Coordinate with construction, QA/QC, vendors, operations, and instrumentation teams for readiness.
Monitor mechanical completion (MC) progress and system handover (A/B punch clearance).
Participate in system walkdowns, redline drawing updates, and commissioning dossier compilation.
Handover & System Completion Manage handover of mechanical/piping systems from construction to commissioning and to operations.
Ensure all documentation including test reports, torque certificates, and as - builts are properly recorded.
Support reliability runs, performance testing, and final acceptance with client and operations teams.
Health, Safety & Environment Ensure all commissioning activities follow PTW, LOTO, and project HSE protocols.
Participate in toolbox talks, risk assessments, and safety meetings related to commissioning.
Stop unsafe work and report any incidents, near misses, or equipment anomalies.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
REQUIRED:
Knowledge of ASME, API, ISO, and project - specific standards for piping and mechanical systems
Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, isometrics, test packs, equipment datasheets, and vendor drawings
Familiarity with commissioning tools and systems like ICAPS, WinPCS, or CMS software
Excellent problem - solving skills during startup and troubleshooting
Strong coordination and communication skills with multi - disciplinary teams
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor of Science Degree (BSc) in Mechanical Engineering
Work experience of eight (8) years in the sought discipline
Excellent spoken and written English including proven ability to write reports.
The salary for this role ranges from €75,000 to €90,000.
This position is governed by the National Collective Bargaining Agreement for Commerce and the Service Sector, as applied by our company.
The specific salary within the range will be determined based on technical skills, specific experience in the role, and the results of the selection process, according to objective and neutral criteria.
For candidates with exceptional qualifications beyond the indicated range, a salary adjustment may be considered subject to internal approval.
