Inpatient Phlebotomist position, located in Portage Medical Center

University Hospitals Portage Medical Center provides the residents of Portage County with convenient access to nationally recognized healthcare. Performs specimen procurement and/or processing of laboratory specimens. Provides laboratory support functions.

• Organizes and performs tasks efficiently to meet departmental turnaround time standards.
• Performs computer data entry, laboratory processes including sterile technique, aliquoting and/or phlebotomy
• Processes specimens for laboratory testing.

• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Complies with all policies and standards.

• Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.

• High School Equivalent / GED (Required)
• Formal Training from an accredited phlebotomy school or medical assistant program (Preferred)

• less than 1 year Entry level (Required)

• Working knowledge of preanalytic laboratory and safety policies and procedures.
