The Wyoming State Penitentiary is looking for a dedicated employee to provide support and guidance to incarcerated individuals and to help facilitate positive change. This position manages a caseload of inmates in a correctional facility, meeting with the assigned offenders regularly to review goals, programming, and assisting in the formation of parole, work release, and treatment plans.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level.
- Classifies inmates to complete risk management assessment for program and housing placement, and makes referrals based on need.
- Delivers evidence-based programs.
- Responsible for individualized case planning, monitoring, and reporting correspondence, contacts, and case notes for all inmates on caseload.
- Responsible for casework management duties to include planning and production in all facets of programming and associated documentation.
- Administers risk/needs assessments.
- Works with offenders to develop pro-social behaviors and to prepare inmates for successful re-entry into society.
- Prepares, organizes, schedules, and implements cognitive-behavioral programming and individual interventions.
- Monitors inmate compliance with established goals and objectives; updates case plans as needed.
- Facilitates compliance with court-ordered recommendations and parole board actions for offenders.
- Facilitates attorney-client phone calls.
- Responds to informal inmate grievances
- Assists security in the day-to-day operations of the unit.
- Must be able to work one late shift a week and occasional weekends.
Preference may be given to those with a Bachelor's Degree, typically in Social Services;
Plus 1-2 years of progressive work experience in Casework and/or prior Correctional experience. The Wyoming Department of Corrections will only accept degrees from an accredited University or College recognized by a nationally accrediting organization. The agency requires that applicants provide transcripts and documentation of degrees at the time of the interview.
- Knowledge of human behavior, motivation, and interpersonal behavior.
- Knowledge of the varied techniques of programming/education.
- Knowledge of social work principles and practices.
- Knowledge of interviewing and counseling techniques.
- Knowledge of current social, economic, and health problems and community resources.
Education: Bachelor s Degree (typically in Social Services)
Experience: 0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Casework)
OR
Education & Experience Substitution: 3-5 years of progressive work experience (typically in Casework)
