The Wyoming State Penitentiary is seeking an Office Support Specialist - Law Librarian. The Law Librarian provides reasonable and meaningful access to the Wyoming State Penitentiary (WSP) law library. This position instructs inmates on how and where to access requested legal information, explains the availability and proper use of legal forms, and guides inmates through the general legal research process. Essential Functions- Supervising the law library
- E-filing Federal District Court documents
- Copying/printing, notary, updating Policies and Procedures for inmate distribution in the library
- Providing inmates with legal forms for the court, i.e., divorce packets
- Logging the inmate's daily computer usage
- Legal research via the internet on Lexis Nexis and other legal sites
- Answering inmate single-page request forms
- Visiting specialty units, checking in and checking out law library material
- Responsible for ensuring a safe and enjoyable workplace, including participation in initiatives designed to promote a positive work environment
- Preference may be given to those with a 2-year degree.
- Preference may also be given to those with 2 years of work experience with a Library background.
- Knowledge of the organization and management of information and materials services.
- Knowledge of research, indexing, records management, and databases.
- Knowledge of the basic principles of education.
- Knowledge of mainframe and personal computer systems.
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, regulations, and policies, technical processes, and procedures related to the department.
- Knowledge of the principles and procedures of financial record keeping and reporting, basic accounts payable and purchasing.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of employee supervision, training, and evaluation.
- Knowledge of techniques for providing a high level of customer service.
Associate's Degree (typically in Business)
Experience0–1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Business Office Communications) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Office Assistant II.
OREducation & Experience Substitution: 2–4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Business Office Communications) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Office Assistant II.
