Duties
  • Knowledge of basic principles of forest management, ability to evaluate data collected for accuracy, to determine causes of variances, and applicability of data to the overall forest management program/project.
  • Knowledge and judgment in giving out factual information, seeking cooperation from timber operators, users, or visitors, and in reporting problems or apparent violations of regulations related to the use and protection of the forests.
  • Skill in operating computers such as entering and retrieving information from GIS, forest, and other databases; preparing correspondence from boiler plates; transmitting and receiving email; and other functions.
  • Knowledge and ability to use engineer’s transit, GPS and other instruments, common hand tools, and to operate two- and four-wheel drive vehicles and ATVs.
  • Ability to read and prepare simple maps.
