Elementary School Nurse - Long Term Sub (LPN or RN)

Oversee the individual health needs of students; implementing health care plans directed by physicians; ensuring district health care practices comply with the laws related to student health issues;
Serve as a health care resource to teachers, staff and administrators alongside the full time RN in the health office.
- Functions in accordance with the rules and regulations of the New Hampshire Nurse Practice Act, New Hampshire State Department of Education and School District policies and procedures
- Completes assessments and treatment of student and staff health concerns
- Provides emergency care in first-aid for sudden illness and accidents incurred during school hours
- Administers physician/parent approved medications
- Provides health screenings for students
- Performs medical procedures
- Maintains electronic cumulative health records on all students and assists in the development/updating of forms necessary and appropriate for health-related issues
- Monitors immunizations, manage communicable diseases and assess school environment to prevent injury and ensure safety
- Ensures submission of all reports relating to the health of children to the State and other appropriate agencies. Point person in the school for staff's work related injuries including supporting the completion of appropriate District documentation.
- Participates in team meetings for identification of health problems and assists in the development of Individual Education, Individual Healthcare and 504 Plans, when appropriate
- Acts as a liaison between the family, school, health care professionals and community to address the holistic health needs of students
- Oversees infection control measures
- Maintains an organized, efficient, and clean health office with seamless procedures that are clearly communicated to the whole school
- Valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Registered Nurse by the New Hampshire Board of Nursing
- Minimum degree in compliance with the State of New Hampshire Department of Education and RSA 200:29
- Minimum of three years current experience in pediatric nursing or related nursing area
- Current BLS certification
- Knowledge of medical record keeping and filing techniques
- Knowledge of New Hampshire immunization requirements
- Knowledge of Google docs, SNAP and Powerschool software
- Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations such as FERPA and HIPAA;
School Board policy; DOE policies and procedures - Knowledge of medications and side effects
- Must function independently and is self directed
