Assistant Director of Nursing RN - Behavioral Health

Overview

Looking for a rewarding nursing career serving patients with substance use disorders? Advanced Recovery Systems is an addiction treatment center located in Raytown, Missouri, offering a holistic, physician‑led continuum of care with 80 beds and various programs including medical detox, residential treatment, and outpatient services.

Responsibilities

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) performs a wide variety of duties: caring for and educating patients about medical and psychiatric conditions, building trust with patients and families, and assisting the Director of Nursing in day‑to‑day management. The ADON directs daily operations of the Nursing Staff on their unit and may act as Director of Nursing in the DON’s absence.

  • Resolve pending issues from the previous shift (labs, treatments, admissions, discharges).
  • Compliance audit related to infection control.
  • Medication storage, returns, destruction, and pharmacy liaison.
  • Order supplies, inventory management, and supply room organization.
  • Monitor and track lab orders, outside consults, and medical transfers.
  • Coordinate admission workflow and manage requisitions.
  • Level of Care transfers in AVATAR.
  • Administrative functions (scanning documents, work scheduling, observation sheet creation).
  • Audit admission and discharge procedures.
  • Coordinate Vivitrol program as directed.
  • Maintain daily scheduling of units based on census.
  • Collaborate with other departments and agencies for quality patient care.
  • Ensure appropriate nurse staffing levels during emergencies.
Qualifications
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; higher education preferred.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (state law).
  • Minimum two years’ experience as a Licensed RN; behavioral health experience preferred.
  • Licensed to practice in Missouri.
  • Prior leadership/supervisor experience preferred.
