Staff Accountant

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to support accounts payable, expense reporting, and purchasing card activity in Reading, Pennsylvania. This long-term contract position is ideal for someone who enjoys maintaining accurate financial records, resolving payment issues, and working across multiple accounting systems. The role will contribute to day-to-day transactional accounting while helping ensure timely processing, policy compliance, and dependable financial reporting.

Responsibilities:

• Process vendor invoices, employee expense submissions, and purchasing card transactions with accuracy and according to established timelines.
• Review charges for proper account coding, required approvals, and supporting documentation before posting items in the accounting system.
• Reconcile accounts payable balances, employee expense activity, and card statements to identify discrepancies and resolve outstanding items promptly.
• Prepare and execute payment activities, including ACH transactions and other approved disbursement methods, while maintaining complete records.
• Support month-end accounting tasks by recording accruals, organizing backup documentation, and assisting with account analysis.
• Work within ERP, Concur, ADP, and related financial platforms to enter, track, and validate accounting data.
• Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding invoice status, expense reports, payment details, and account discrepancies clearly and courteously.
• Assist with audit requests by compiling documentation, validating transaction history, and helping maintain strong financial controls.
