Accounts Payable Clerk

Description We are looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to support a busy finance team in Reading, Pennsylvania. This Long-term Contract opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys accurate, high-volume transaction processing and can step in quickly to provide dependable on-site support. The person in this role will help maintain timely payment workflows, keep invoice records organized, and assist the team during a period of increased operational demand.

Responsibilities:

- Review incoming vendor invoices, verify details for accuracy, and enter payable information into the accounting system in a timely manner.

- Assign appropriate accounting codes to invoices to support proper expense tracking and internal reporting.

- Prepare and process check runs according to established payment schedules and approval procedures.

- Maintain organized accounts payable files and documentation so records are complete, accessible, and audit-ready.

- Communicate with internal departments and external vendors to resolve invoice discrepancies, payment questions, and missing information.

- Monitor the status of outstanding invoices to help ensure deadlines are met and payment activity remains current.

- Provide additional accounts payable support to help the team manage workload during an internal transition period. Requirements - Prior experience in accounts payable or a closely related accounting support role.

- Hands-on ability to process invoices accurately in a fast-paced environment.

- Experience coding invoices and applying correct account classifications.

- Familiarity with preparing or assisting with check runs.

- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate financial records.

- Ability to work on-site in Reading, Pennsylvania, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

- Availability to begin immediately.

- Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both vendors and internal team members.
