Accounting Clerk

Description

We are looking for an Accounting Clerk to support day-to-day payables and receivables activities for a client in Reading, Pennsylvania. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys detail-oriented financial work, collaborates well with others, and can keep records accurate and current in a fast-paced environment. The role will focus on invoice handling, payment processing, account reconciliation, and billing support while helping maintain organized accounting data.

Responsibilities:

- Review incoming invoices for accuracy, confirm supporting details, and process them in a timely manner.

- Organize and assign proper accounting codes to payable transactions before entering them into financial records.

- Prepare payment documentation and assemble materials needed for approval and signature.

- Investigate billing differences, follow up on outstanding items, and help resolve unpaid invoice issues.

- Create and distribute customer invoices while ensuring billing information is complete and correct.

- Record incoming payments, apply receipts to the appropriate accounts, and maintain up-to-date receivable balances.

- Perform high-volume data entry with a strong focus on accuracy and consistency across accounting documents.

Requirements

- Previous experience supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable functions in a detail-focused setting.

- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while managing routine accounting tasks.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the use of formulas for tracking and reconciling data.

- Strong data entry skills with careful attention to detail and accuracy.

- Experience with billing processes, payment posting, and invoice management.

- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Accounting is preferred.

- Basic understanding of accounting and finance procedures with the ability to learn internal systems quickly.
