Our client, a well-established and reputable law firm based in Reading, is seeking an experienced Secretary to join their busy practice. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong administrative skills and a professional approach to support teams across criminal, prison, and family law.
In this varied role, you will also share reception and front-of-house responsibilities, ensuring a high standard of service for clients and visitors.
Key RequirementsThe ideal candidate will have:
Previous experience in a secretary or administrator role (legal experience advantageous)
Strong audio typing skills using digital dictation software
Excellent IT proficiency, including familiarity with case management systems
Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise workload
Confidence working with a diverse client base
High levels of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality
A flexible and proactive approach to work
You will be responsible for:
Audio typing of correspondence and legal documents
Managing diaries, key dates, and appointments
Organising prison visits
Handling general administrative tasks and incoming correspondence
Supporting shared reception duties when required
Preparing and correlating legal documents and bundles
Answering incoming calls and directing enquiries
Taking new client instructions
