Security Administration Officer – Full-Time Onsite (Reading)

About the RoleAn exciting opportunity has opened for a highly organised and proactive Security Administration Officer to support a specialist UK Public Sector programme. This position sits at the heart of a secure operational facility, providing personnel security administration, access control support, and a wide range of essential daily administrative duties.
This role is ideal for someone wanting to develop new skills within a committed, friendly, and engaging security team. The role is primarily based in Reading, with occasional travel to London if required. All responsibilities must be carried out in line with UK Government security policies and standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Security Administration Officer will support the day-to-day running of a secure facility, including:
- Processing BPSS and SC vetting applications, supporting the Personnel Security Controller.
- Delivering a range of security-related administrative tasks.
- Acting as the primary point of contact for facility users and visitors.
- Managing vetting and facility mailboxes, ensuring timely responses and actions.
- Ensuring compliant use of secure areas for classified engagements.
- Escorting contractors during maintenance and related activities.
- Providing office cover for the wider security team during peak periods or absence.
- Assisting with security audits, inspections, and process reviews.
- Monitoring correct access control and reporting any irregularities.
- Proven administration experience in a business or office environment.
- Strong communication skills, confident interacting with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proactive and self‑motivated, able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent organisational skills and outstanding attention to detail.
- Able to manage multiple work streams and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Word, Teams, SharePoint, Excel).
- Trusted to handle confidential, sensitive, and security‑related information appropriately.
- Able to work comfortably within a small onsite team.
- Experience working with the Defence Sector, Central or Local Government
. - Understanding of the UK National Vetting System
. - CRM or general office system experience.
- Demonstrates high integrity and professionalism.

- Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Customer-focused, delivering exceptional service to internal and external stakeholders.
- Comfortable working in a smaller office environment where adaptability is key.
