We are currently seeking capable, enthusiastic and committed PCN Team Receptionist/Administrators to join our close-knit, hardworking, and friendly teams at Abbey Medical Centre and Broad Street Health Centre. The role would involve working at Abbey Medical Centre GP practice, with occasional covering at Broad Street Health Centre GP practice based in the same building in central Reading.

The role would involve working 40 hours per week working shifts of 07:45
-16:15 and 10:00 - 18:30 according to the needs of the practice.

While prior experience with EMIS and the NHS is advantageous, it is not mandatory.

Job Overview:
This role is dynamic and multifaceted, involving administrative support for clinical staff and the management of patient inquiries in various formats face to face, telephone, and through clinical systems. It demands an individual who can maintain composure during busy periods, possesses excellent communication skills, IT proficiency, multitasking abilities, and confidence in both independent and collaborative work within a supportive and flexible team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Admin Duties:
Assisting with patient registrations, workflow, coding of hospital and professional correspondence, and other related tasks.

Reception Duties:
Managing patient appointments, e-Consultations, and assigning workloads to the appropriate clinician.

Prescription Duties:
Processing prescriptions requests through various systems, Medication monitoring, Workflow of documents and general administration.

Telephone Duties:
Handling phone inquiries and queries in accordance with established protocols.

Problem Solving:
Addressing issues and queries from patients, doctors, nurses, community staff, and other relevant teams.

Records Management:
Organising and retrieving medical records, letters, and test results.

Computer Usage:
Updating patient information on the computer system.

Premises Management:
Ensuring the practice premises are ready for the day (opening and closing duties), maintaining tidiness in waiting areas and consulting rooms, and replenishing stationery supplies.

Administrative and Professional Duties:
Actively participating in practice team responsibilities and maintaining accurate records when requested.

Meeting Participation:
Attending practice meetings and training sessions as needed.

Confidentiality:
Respecting patient privacy and adhering to strict confidentiality policies and procedures regarding patient information, practice staff, and business-related data.

Abbey Medical Centre is a small GP practice dedicated to serving a diverse population of around 2,500 patients in the same building as Broad Street Health Centre. Our team is comprised of experienced professionals, including GP Partners, Salaried GP, Practice Nurse and our invaluable Reception and Admin team.

Broad Street Health Centre is a large GP practice dedicated to serving a diverse population of around 15,000 patients. Our team is comprised of experienced professionals, including GP Partners, Salaried GPs, Nurse Practitioners, Paramedic Practitioners, Practice Nurses, Physician Assistant , and our invaluable Reception and Admin team.

Person Specification Experience
  • Demonstrable Administrative and Reception experience
  • Ability to work in a flexible way and respond to change
  • Able to demonstrate advanced computer literacy / keyboard skills
  • Demonstrable Administrative and Reception experience in the NHS
Qualifications
  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
  • NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration
