The roleIn Energy Markets, our Demand Forecasting team sits at the heart of how we make thoughtful, well‑informed decisions - working collaboratively with Trading, Finance, Retail and Business Energy to understand how weather, customer behaviour and wider trends shape energy demand. This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive and purpose‑driven team where your insights will help minimise balancing costs, optimise procurement and keep our operations safe, stable and efficient.
You’ll play a valued role in shaping both short and long‑term forecasts across GB and Ireland, while continuously improving how we work - bringing curiosity, care and a strong focus on safety, accuracy and quality in everything we do.
- Deliver timely, high‑quality forecasts for gas and electricity demand, supporting safe, balanced and cost‑effective energy operations.
- Work collaboratively across teams, sharing insight and building trusted relationships with stakeholders and internal customers.
- Continuously look for ways to improve, helping to evolve forecasting systems, processes and models with a focus on quality and safety.
- Contribute thoughtful, value‑adding analysis that supports better decision‑making and enhances forecasting accuracy.
- Embrace opportunities to develop deeper expertise in specific areas, growing your knowledge and impact within the team.
- A strong numerical background, with a degree in a mathematical or analytical discipline.
- Experience working with data, with confident problem‑solving skills and a careful, detail‑focused approach.
- Solid Excel skills, with Python and SQL knowledge welcomed but not essential.
- Clear and collaborative communication skills, enabling you to share insights in an accessible and supportive way.
- An interest in commercial environments or forecasting techniques, alongside a proactive mindset and desire to learn.
