The roleThis is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering major electrical infrastructure projects, helping to shape designs from early feasibility through to construction. Working closely with framework partners and stakeholders, you will ensure designs are practical, high‑quality and deliver the best outcomes while effectively managing risk, cost and programme requirements.
You will- Be responsible for the design assessment of projects including the evaluation in terms of value and risk.
- Manage and develop the engineering design from feasibility studies through to detailed design with framework partners to ensure projects are maintaining quality control of design outputs in line with SSEN standards.
- Ensure all works are carried out safely (on site) through the application of SSE safety family and five golden rules.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- A degree in Electrical Design (preferred), or a Higher National Certificate (HNC) with substantial relevant experience.
- Solid engineering design expertise, with a strong understanding of design governance and CDM (Construction Design and Management) regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to produce high‑quality work under tight deadlines and thrive in collaborative team environments.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Experience engaging successfully with external and internal stakeholders including regulatory bodies.
This role involves travel across various locations to support business needs. To enable you to fulfil these responsibilities, the company will provide access to a vehicle for work‑related travel. A valid driving licence is essential.
