The Opportunity

We are growing our team delivering AMP8 water and wastewater projects across multiple sites between 2025 and 2030. Tilbury Douglas has secured a substantial programme of treatment works schemes, ranging from small capital maintenance projects through to complex multi‑disciplinary upgrades.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a high‑performing team delivering civil, mechanical, electrical and ICA works on live operational water and wastewater sites. Projects will typically range from £2m to £15m and may include work on sites where previous AMP7 projects have been delivered by the Tilbury Douglas team.

This is an exciting time to join the Tilbury Douglas Infrastructure Division as we expand our presence across the UK water sector. We are recruiting experienced professionals who can lead site operations safely and efficiently whilst maintaining strong client relationships.

Role Summary

The Senior Site Agent is responsible for managing site‑based construction activities on water and wastewater treatment works projects.

The role ensures works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required standards of quality and environmental compliance.

This position requires strong operational leadership, technical understanding of water sector construction, effective coordination of subcontractors and direct labour, and the ability to manage interfaces within live operational environments.

What you will be doing
  • Provide strong leadership on site, promoting a culture of safety, quality, collaboration and high performance
  • Manage and coordinate day‑to‑day construction activities across civil, mechanical, electrical and ICA disciplines
  • Ensure works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications, programme and budget requirements
  • Lead subcontractors and direct labour teams to achieve productivity, quality and programme targets
  • Ensure full compliance with CDM Regulations, HSEQ procedures, permit systems and environmental standards
  • Oversee quality inspections, testing regimes and temporary works coordination
  • Develop and maintain short‑term programmes and look‑ahead plans, monitoring progress and implementing corrective actions where required
  • Act as the primary site interface with the client and operational teams, managing works within live environments
  • Support commercial and contractual processes, including record keeping, change management, early warnings and risk mitigation
  • Drive continuous improvement through best practice construction methods and effective use of digital systems
What we will need from you
  • Proven experience as a Senior Site Agent or Site Manager delivering water and/or wastewater treatment projects within live operational environments
  • Strong technical understanding of civil, mechanical, electrical and ICA works
  • Demonstrable leadership experience managing site teams and subcontractors on complex schemes
  • Good programme and commercial awareness, including planning, cost control and change management
  • Thorough knowledge of CDM Regulations, HSEQ standards and permit‑to‑work systems
  • HNC (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline
  • SMSTS qualification and valid CSCS card
  • Professional membership (CIOB, ICE, IMechE or similar), chartered or working towards desirable
  • Experience using digital construction management systems (e.g. Dalux)
  • Strong organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills
