Freelance Site Manager

Position: Freelance Site Manager (No.1)
We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to join our team, delivering high-quality commercial fit-out projects across Berkshire and Bristol, typically valued up to £1m.

This is a No.1 Site Manager role, taking full responsibility for managing projects from start through to completion, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

Take full ownership of projects as the lead Site Manager (No.1 on site)

Manage all on-site activities for commercial fit-out schemes (CAT A / CAT B / refurbishments)

Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and site labour

Ensure projects are delivered on programme and within budget

Maintain high standards of health & safety compliance

Conduct site inductions, toolbox talks, and safety audits

Liaise with clients, consultants, and project stakeholders

Monitor quality control and ensure works meet specification

Manage site documentation including RAMS, permits, and daily reporting

Identify and resolve site issues proactively

Requirements

Proven experience as a Site Manager within commercial fit-out

Track record of delivering projects up to £1m in value

Ability to operate independently as a No.1 Site Manager

Strong organisational and communication skills

Client-facing experience and professional approach

Essential Certifications

SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)

CSCS Card (Black or appropriate level)

First Aid at Work

Desirable

Experience across cat A / cat B office fit-outs

Ability to manage multiple trades in live environments

Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
