Based in Reading, this full-time Project Quantity Surveyor role with Pertemps Thames Water carries a competitive salary between £54,000 and £64,000, dependent on experience. You will oversee a project portfolio with limited oversight, ensuring contractual compliance and optimal value. Duties span commercial assurance on major programmes, negotiating tenders, verifying timely payments, and assessing change or extensions under contract terms. Projects range from £25,000 to £200 million in contractor value, offering considerable variety.
Suitable candidates will possess strong negotiation and analytical abilities, alongside solid contract knowledge. This position suits a surveyor prepared to work autonomously on substantial infrastructure schemes while maintaining rigorous financial control and reporting standards. We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Quantity Surveyor who will be responsible for managing a portfolio of projects with minimal supervision to ensure that value for money is achieved alongside contractual compliance.

- Providing Commercial Assurance of Major Projects and Programmes Contracts.
- Negotiating and agreeing Project Tenders on assigned Portfolio.
- Ensuring that payments are made on time and in accordance with the Contract for your given portfolio of Projects.
- Assessing the Quantum of Change and/or Extension of Time under the relevant Contracts on the assigned portfolio.
- Ensuring that appropriate processes are in place and monitored on your Projects to ensure that Contractual Compliance is maintained and advising stakeholders if any non-performance is identified and corrective actions implemented as necessary.
- Supporting the management and optimisation of budgets and spend on the portfolio of Projects.
- Attending monthly site meetings on-site.
- Collecting the relevant Contracts on the assigned portfolio.
- Auditing and agreeing on Project Accounts.
- Supporting the Senior, Principal or Managing Quantity Surveyor with the resolution of Claims as necessary.
- Have extensive experience in commercially managing a portfolio of projects, both pre and post-contract.
- Hold a degree in Quantity Surveying of equivalent.
- Have a desire to work towards gaining Chartered Status.
- Be confident in negotiation and have some dispute resolution skills.
- Understand water regulation (incl. OFWAT Price Review methodology)
- Be excellent at building and maintaining relationships.
- Have strong communication skills.
- Mentor junior team members.
- Hold a full UK Driving license and have your own transport.
