Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager - MOD Commercial Build

Up to £95k (SQS) / Up to £108k (CM) + Benefits
Security Clearance: SC Clearance required (or eligibility to obtain)
Our client, a leading main contractor, is looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor - or a Commercial Manager for the right candidate - to join their team on a commercial build project for the Ministry of Defence.
You'll take ownership of commercial management on a high-profile MOD project, working closely with the operational team to protect and maximise contractual entitlements. Depending on experience, this role could suit someone ready to step up into a Commercial Manager position.
Key Responsibilities- Promote a safety-first culture across all project activities
- Ensure compliance with legal, contractual, and company processes, including MOD-specific security and site protocols
- Understand contract terms and manage commercial risks and opportunities
- Maintain accurate records to support contractual entitlements
- Prepare and submit applications, securing payment and variations
- Manage subcontract accounts through to final account
- Monitor progress and provide accurate commercial reporting
- Support negotiation and settlement of the final account with the client
- For CM-level candidates: broader oversight of the commercial team and project commercial strategy
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within commercial/construction build environments
- Experience working on MOD or other secure/government projects is highly advantageous
- Must hold, or be eligible to obtain, SC Clearance
- Degree/HNC level qualification and/or significant relevant experience
- Experience managing change and subcontract accounts
- Good working knowledge of standard forms of contract (e.g. JCT/NEC)
- Candidates with Commercial Manager-level experience are encouraged to apply and will be considered for a higher package
- Up to £95,000 basic salary (SQS) / Up to £108,000 (Commercial Manager)
- £300 per month car allowance (non-car, fixed)
