Building & Residential Construction, Civil Engineering, Regulatory Compliance Specialist, Quantity Surveyor
Plenty of firms insist on not considering a Building Surveyor without MRICS. This one would rather find someone with solid survey experience, train them properly and keep them for the long run.
The practice serves clients across Reading and the wider Thames Valley, and this hire is about adding depth to the team rather than plugging a short-term gap. AssocRICS is ideal. MRICS isn't required.
The Building Surveyor RoleYour starting point is residential survey work: carrying out RICS Level 2 and Level 3 surveys and writing them up properly. From there the firm will train you, so the role broadens as your skills do.
Duties of the Building Surveyor to include:- Carrying out RICS Level 2 and Level 3 surveys on residential property
- Inspecting for and diagnosing defects, damp and movement
- Writing clear, accurate survey reports
- Talking clients through findings and next steps
- Managing your own diary of inspections
- Picking up wider building surveying work as your training progresses
Someone who already knows their way around a Level 3 survey and wants a firm that will invest in them.
The Building Surveyor will ideally have:- Hands-on experience of RICS Level 2 and Level 3 surveys
- AssocRICS, or a plan to work towards it
- A base within a sensible commute of Reading
- An appetite to learn and broaden into wider building surveying
- Salary of £35,000 - £45,000 depending on experience
- 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays
- Bonus structure
- Pension
- Structured APC training from the firm
