CAD Planning Designer

Location:

Reading

Salary: £35-45,000

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced AutoCAD Planning Designer to join a busy and expanding residential team in Reading. This role would suit someone with a strong background in preparing planning drawings for housing developments who enjoys working on a variety of residential projects from initial concept through to planning submission. The successful candidate will work alongside planning and technical professionals to produce high-quality drawings for new-build housing and apartment schemes, ensuring designs are accurate, compliant and delivered to project deadlines.

The Role:

Prepare planning and presentation drawings using AutoCAD.
Develop site layouts, masterplans and residential floor plans for housing developments.
Produce elevations and planning drawings for both houses and apartment schemes.
Revise and update drawings in response to planning, design and client feedback.
Ensure all work complies with current Building Regulations and relevant industry standards.
Support the wider design team by providing technical drawing expertise throughout the planning process.
Maintain accurate drawing records and version control.
Work across multiple live projects while managing competing priorities.

About You:

The ideal candidate will have previous experience producing AutoCAD drawings within the UK residential sector and be confident working on planning-stage developments.

Applicants should demonstrate:

Strong AutoCAD proficiency.
Previous experience working on residential housing developments.
Knowledge of site layouts, floor plans and building elevations.
An understanding of UK Building Regulations and planning requirements.
Excellent attention to detail with a methodical approach to work.
The ability to manage workloads effectively and meet deadlines.
Strong communication skills and the confidence to work collaboratively across departments.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel.
Relevant industry experience is essential; formal qualifications are not a prerequisite.
