Job Summary
An opportunity has arisen for a fixed term consultant to join our Acute Medicine team to cover maternity leave from April 2026 for 12 months at Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust.
There is the potential for PAs in another speciality, teaching, and research depending on clinical need, availability and funding.

Main Duties of the JobThis is a 10 PA post for a Consultant Acute Physician with or without a specialty interest, at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust.
The post holder will share clinical and managerial leadership within the acute medicine service with the present consultants. An office base with secretarial and administrative support will be provided.
Clinical Responsibilities- Provide, alongside the current team, the acute medicine service at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, including in‑patient and same day emergency care
- Provide clinical supervision to junior medical staff working within the department
- Comply with the GMC requirements of the Duties of a Doctor at all times
- Active participation in monthly clinical governance and consultant meetings
- Active participation in departmental audit and quality improvement projects
- Active participation in trainee teaching and development

- Full registration with the GMC/eligible for registration within 6 months of CCST in Acute Medicine, GIM, infectious diseases or microbiology at interview date
- Membership of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom or equivalent
- Higher degree e.g. PhD/MD submitted/awarded
- Fully trained in Acute Medicine, GIM, infectious diseases or microbiology
- Previous responsibility for clinical governance and GMC Good Medical Practice
- Experience in all aspects of general medicine and patient care
- Able to abide by the Trust CARE Values;
