Locum Consultant in Acute Medicine; Maternity Leave cover

Overview

An opportunity has arisen for a fixed term consultant to join our Acute Medicine team to cover maternity leave from April 2026 for 12 months at Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust. This is a 10 PA post for a Consultant Acute Physician with or without a specialty interest, at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will share clinical and managerial leadership within the acute medicine service with the present consultants.

An office base with secretarial and administrative support will be provided.

• Provide, alongside the current team, the acute medicine service at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, including in-patient and same day emergency care
• Provide clinical supervision to junior medical staff working within the department
• Comply with the GMC requirements of the Duties of a Doctor at all times
• Active participation in monthly clinical governance and consultant meetings
• Active participation in departmental audit and quality improvement projects
• Active participation in trainee teaching and development
