EPUT is looking to appoint an enthusiastic consultant to join our Adult Inpatient team who will work on a Cherry down ward, Basildon Mental Unit, Basildon which is a 16 beds on an acute psychiatric admission ward for female patients.

Main duties of the jobThe successful candidate will provide clinical leadership for the assessment and management of adult inpatients admitted to the ward.

• To provide clinical leadership for the assessment and management of female general adult inpatients admitted to Cherry down ward.
• Take part in the out of hours on-call rota.

• Essential MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
• Essential Registration with the General Medical Council and on the Specialist Register.
• Essential Meets Royal College of Psychiatrists criteria for appointment to the post of Consultant.
• Essential Section 12 Approval and Approved Clinician Status.
• Desirable Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
• DesirableMRCPsych
  
  On the Specialist Register with qualifications General Adult.
• Desirable Postgraduate degree in psychiatry MRC Psych or equivalent.
• Desirable Additional clinical qualifications.

• Essential Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
• Essential Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.
• Essential Approved clinician status.
• Essential Approved under Section 12.
• Desirable In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice.

• Essential Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
• Essential Makes decisions based on evidence and experience including the contribution of others.
• Essential Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA.
• Desirable Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service.
• Desirable Utilises a quality improvement approach to think systemically about complex problems, develop potential change ideas and test these in practice using a systematic QI methodology.
