A specialist SEMH School in Reading is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join their team from September. This role is ideal for graduates and aspiring psychologists looking to gain practical experience working with children who face social, emotional, and mental health challenges.

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will support pupils who may display challenging behaviour as part of additional needs such as ASD, ADHD, trauma, or attachment difficulties. You will work closely with teachers and external professionals to provide tailored support and help pupils access learning in a positive and structured environment.

This opportunity provides valuable hands‑on experience for anyone looking to pursue further training in mental health, therapy, educational psychology, or youth work. Working as a Behaviour Mentor will help you build key skills in communication, behaviour management, and emotional support.

Key responsibilities
  • Supporting students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Managing challenging behaviour in a calm and positive manner
  • Encouraging students to engage with learning activities
  • Working collaboratively with teachers and external agencies
  • Helping to maintain a safe and supportive school environment
