Full‑Time | Permanent
Salary: MPS/UPS (£31,650 - £49,084) + SEN Allowance

Teaching Personnel is proud to be working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Reading to recruit an experienced and passionate SENCO. This is an exclusive vacancy available only through Teaching Personnel and is not currently being advertised on any other job boards.

This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated SEN professional to join a supportive leadership team and make a significant impact on the educational outcomes and wellbeing of pupils with additional needs.

As SENCO, you will lead and coordinate the school's SEND provision, ensuring that all pupils receive the support they need to achieve their full potential. Working closely with staff, parents, external agencies and senior leaders, you will play a key role in developing an inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive.

  • Lead and manage the school's SEND provision in line with statutory requirements.
  • Identify, assess and monitor pupils with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Develop and review EHCPs, support plans and intervention strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to ensure high‑quality inclusive teaching.
  • Liaise with parents, carers, local authorities and external professionals.
  • Monitor the progress and attainment of SEND pupils and report on outcomes.
  • Support staff development through training, guidance and best practice.
  • Contribute to whole‑school improvement and inclusion strategies.
Qualifications
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) or willingness to complete it.
  • Previous experience working as a SENCO or within a SEND leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and current legislation.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills.
  • A genuine commitment to supporting children with diverse learning needs.
