Affinity Workforce is working in partnership with a primary school in Reading
, and we are currently recruiting an experienced and committed SENCO Unit Lead to lead and develop two SEND units within the school.
This is an exciting leadership opportunity for a qualified SENCO / QTS Teacher who is passionate about inclusive education and has the expertise to drive high-quality provision for pupils with additional needs. The role is available for an immediate start
, with potential for long-term or permanent placement.
- Leading and managing two SEND units within the primary setting
- Overseeing the delivery of high-quality, tailored teaching and learning for pupils with SEND
- Acting as the school’s SENCO, ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice
- Developing and implementing EHCPs and individual support plans
- Supporting, mentoring, and managing staff within the SEND provision
- Working closely with teachers, support staff, parents, and external professionals
- Monitoring pupil progress, attainment, and wellbeing
- Promoting an inclusive, nurturing, and supportive learning environment
- Ensuring high standards of safeguarding, behaviour, and health & safety
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or SENCO qualification (

) - Proven experience working with pupils with SEND (
essential
) - Leadership or management experience within a school or SEND setting (
desirable
) - Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and EHCP processes
- Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills
- A proactive, empathetic, and solution-focused approach
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
- A dedicated consultant specialising in SEND and leadership roles
