You will spend approximately one quarter of your time working as a teaching assistant, supporting laboratory sessions and other teaching activities. The remaining three quarters will be dedicated to PhD research within the Department of Computer Science. This position is fully funded for UK Home students for four years and includes a competitive combined salary and stipend package that exceeds the standard UKRI full‑time PhD stipend.

International students will receive a Home/ROI fee waiver and must pay the remaining international fee difference (approximately £20,000 per year). The PhD candidate will conduct research in Trustworthy and Responsible AI.

• Support laboratory and teaching sessions as a Graduate Teaching Assistant.
• Assist with grading, marking and providing feedback to students.
• Collaborate with academic staff on research projects and teaching materials.

• Meet the academic requirements for a PhD offer at the University of Reading.
• Hold a first‑class or upper second‑class degree (1st or 2:1) in Computer Science, Data Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrate a strong technical background in a computing discipline.
• Good teaching potential; prior teaching experience is not required.

Training will be provided to develop teaching and pedagogical skills. The candidate will also benefit from MSc courses and bespoke training through the Postgraduate and Researcher College.
