Reed Education is proud to be working in partnership with a highly regarded specialist provision in the Reading area to recruit a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Mentor.

The Role

As an SEMH Mentor, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs
  • Build trusting relationships to support emotional regulation and engagement
  • Assist in managing behaviour using positive, consistent strategies
  • Support learning both in and out of the classroom
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams
  • Help students develop confidence, resilience, and social skills

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs
  • Is patient, empathetic, and resilient
  • Can remain calm under pressure and respond positively to challenging behaviour
  • Has a strong interest in mental health and education
  • Is a team player with excellent communication skills

Experience in roles such as support work, youth work, teaching assistant roles, or mental health support is highly desirable.
