SEND Primary Teaching Assistant

Position Overview

A mainstream primary school in Reading is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one support for a pupil with additional needs from September 2026. This is a full-time position; temporary unless stated otherwise. Pay rate is £92.63 per day.

• Provide one-to-one support for the pupil with additional needs.
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support the pupil’s academic, social and emotional development throughout the school day.
• Adapt activities, encourage engagement and help the child access learning within the classroom environment.
• Provide personal care support as required, with dignity and sensitivity.

• Previous experience working within a school or supporting children with SEND is desirable.
• Patient, reliable and nurturing with a genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs.
• Must be suitably qualified for the role and prepared to attend a face‑to‑face interview.
• Up‑to‑date DBS check, or willingness to allow Axcis to process one on your behalf, along with other mandatory compliance checks in line with DfE guidelines.
• Compliance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 for roles involving children or vulnerable adults.
