Job description

We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Business Data Analytics who will contribute to strengthening our research and teaching portfolio in data analytics and AI. The role involves research and teaching in the broad area of information systems with a focus on data analytics and AI, and associated administrative responsibilities. The lecturer will support the strategic direction of Henley Business School in the Department of Digitalisation, Marketing and Entrepreneurship (DME).

You will contribute to scholarship, teaching and administration, commensurate with the post of Lecturer.

Key responsibilities
  • Conduct independent research in the area of data analytics and AI within the context of information management and information systems at a business school.
  • Teach a range of modules in the broad area of information systems, from undergraduate, pre-experience and post-experience master’s programmes to executive education programmes as agreed by the Head of DME.
  • Take on administrative duties and academic citizenship activities as well as academic leadership roles as appropriate.

Research will involve the planning and conduct of individual and collaborative research projects expected to lead to regular publications that are world‑leading or internationally excellent, as well as the preparation of research proposals, funding applications and evidence of research impact. The research is expected to contribute actively to the research agenda of IRC, Henley’s World of Work Institute, and other relevant centres and groups both internally and externally, e.g. the Thames Valley AI Hub.

Teaching responsibilities include lectures, seminars, tutorials, project/dissertation supervision at all levels, and appropriate assessment and feedback, across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in digital business and data analytics as well as general business and management. Students will be provided with an effective learning experience through full engagement with their teaching/learning, and the lecturer will seek to enhance practice using examples of good practice from a range of sources.

For those with appropriate experience and expertise, there will be opportunities to teach in Executive Education programmes.

Administration will include management of teaching provision, academic tutoring, module convening and may include other roles within the Department, School and University, along with business engagement and programme outreach activities as appropriate.

All members of staff at Henley Business School are expected to demonstrate academic citizenship, which includes collegiality and active participation in School and University activities such as Open Days.
