Position: Special Educational Needs Coordinator (Senco) – Renowned Secondary Grammar School

Are you an ambitious, highly organized SENCo or experienced SEND specialist eager to lead whole-school inclusion, coordinate statutory EHCP provisions, and support high-achieving pupils with neurodiverse profiles across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5? Our client is seeking an articulate, detail-oriented SENCo to join their Senior Leadership Team (SLT) from September. Serving as the primary advocate for pupils with additional learning needs, neurodiverse conditions (such as ASD and ADHD), and physical disabilities, you will oversee the strategic development and operational running of the inclusion department.

Your key duties will include managing statutory Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) applications, organizing comprehensive annual reviews, designing targeted academic and executive-functioning interventions, and maintaining an audit-ready SEND register in strict alignment with national guidelines. Additionally, you will line-manage a dedicated team of Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) and Teaching Assistants, deliver whole-school CPD on adaptive quality-first teaching, and collaborate closely with external specialists, educational psychologists, and local authority SEN teams.

Qualifications & Criteria

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) alongside the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCo or NPQ SENCo)

  • Extensive knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, EHCP funding processes, and statutory review frameworks

  • Proven track record of leading targeted interventions, conducting diagnostic assessments, and managing support staff

  • Exceptional communication, reporting, and multi-agency liaison capabilities
