SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Reading, Berkshire
Salary: 22,000 - 26,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
Start Date: ASAP

The Role As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:- Support students with social, emotional and mental health needs both in and outside of the classroom.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons and learning activities.
- Support students in managing emotions, behaviour and social interactions.
- Implement behaviour support strategies and intervention plans.
- Encourage participation, independence and personal development.
- Promote a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, parents and external professionals to support individual student needs.
- Has experience working with children or young people, ideally in an SEMH, SEND, alternative provision or care setting.
- Is calm, patient and resilient when faced with challenging situations.
- Possesses strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Demonstrates empathy, understanding and a genuine passion for supporting young people.
- Can work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Has a positive and proactive approach to behaviour management.
- SEMH, SEND or behavioural support experience.
- Team Teach, CPI or other de-escalation training.
- Experience supporting students with Autism, ADHD, trauma or attachment difficulties.
- Youth work, mentoring, coaching or care experience.
- A supportive and welcoming school environment.
- Ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
