EHCP Mentor

Support Young People to Achieve Their Individual Goals

We're looking for an EHCP Mentor to support children and young people across West Sussex through personalised 1:1 mentoring.

Working on behalf of Local Authorities
, you'll support learners with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) who require alternative provision or additional support outside of mainstream education. Your role will focus on building confidence, promoting engagement, supporting emotional wellbeing, and helping young people work towards their individual outcomes.

We're particularly interested in mentors who can support learners in:

  • Crawley
  • Worthing
  • Horsham
  • Chichester
  • Bognor Regis
  • Littlehampton

Location: West Sussex
Role: EHCP Mentor
Start Date: September
Hours: Flexible
Pay Rate: 25- 30 per hour
Type: 1:1 Mentoring

Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in an educational setting
    , including mentoring, teaching, tutoring, learning support, teaching assistant, youth work, or similar roles
  • Experience supporting children and young people with SEND is desirable
  • Understanding of EHCPs and personalised support strategies
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach
  • Ability to work independently and engage young people positively
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
  • Driver preferred; alternatively, willingness to travel locally within West Sussex
Who You'll Support

You'll work with children and young people who may have:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • ADHD
  • Anxiety and school avoidance
  • Communication and interaction needs
  • EHCPs and additional educational needs

Every placement is different, requiring a flexible, relationship-led approach that helps learners build confidence, resilience, and positive engagement with education.
