Job Title:

English Teacher and Reading Lead

Location:

The Tower School, Epping, CM16 4BA

Hours:

37.5 per week | Monday to Friday Salary:
Up to £43,000 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata)

Contract:

Permanent | Term Time Only Start:
November 2026 UK applicants only - no sponsorship available

What you will be doing
  • Deliver high-quality, engaging English lessons.
  • Lead and promote reading initiatives across the school.
  • Monitor and assess student progress to drive achievement.
  • Support students' personal, social and emotional development.
  • Collaborate with education, support and care teams to ensure the best outcomes for learners.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and whole-school improvement.
What you will be bring
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent required.
  • Has experience teaching English across relevant key stages.
  • Is passionate about literacy, reading and language development.
  • Has the ability to inspire and engage students who may have faced barriers to learning.
  • Can demonstrate strong classroom management and behaviour support strategies.
  • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Is committed to delivering outstanding outcomes for young people.

The Tower School is an independent specialist day school in Epping, Essex, supporting 62 pupils aged 11-18 with autism and complex needs. In a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment, pupils receive personalised support to develop academically, socially, and emotionally. Our curriculum blends academic learning with life skills and personal development, fostering confidence, independence, and resilience.
