About this Role

An exciting opportunity to support the most vulnerable learners at both Primary and Secondary levels, through providing high quality to support pupils who areunable to access full-time education due to Emotional Based School Avoidance(EBSA), medical needs, risk of permanent exclusion, or other reasons requiring alternative provision. The service will provide consistent, high-quality, safe,and timely tuition for pupils experiencing persistent absence or educational instability.

Working with students on an individual basis and in small groups, you will provide personalised learning programmes that meet a range of needs, including Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Social, Emotional and Mental Health(SEMH) needs, medical needs and attendance-related barriers. The role is idealfor someone who is passionate about making a difference and supporting vulnerable young people to realise their potential.

Key responsibilities include:

• Planning and delivering engaging and personalised learning programmes for individual students and small groups.
• Adapting teaching approaches and resources to meet a wide range of learning needs and abilities.
• Building positive, trusting relationships that support students' emotional wellbeing, confidence and engagement.
• Supporting students to overcome barriers to learning and successfully re-engage with education.
• Monitoring, assessing and recording student progress, attendance and engagement.
• Contributing to individual support plans, review meetings and reintegration programmes.
• Working collaboratively with families, schools and external professionals to support student outcomes.
• Promoting high expectations for behaviour, achievement and personal development.
• Maintaining accurate records and reports.
• Upholding safeguarding responsibilities and promoting the welfare of children and young people at all times. Based on the duties and requirements outlined in 1 to 1 tutor Horizons.

• Has experience working with children and young people, particularly those facing barriers to education.
• Can build effective relationships with students, families and professionals.
• Demonstrates patience, resilience, empathy and professionalism.
• Has strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Can adapt teaching and support strategies to meet individual needs.
• Understands the importance of safeguarding and inclusion.
• Is organised, flexible and able to work independently.
• Holds QTS or a relevant teaching qualification (desirable but not essential).

Horizons Alternative Provision Academy is an Alternative Education provision for young people ranging from 5-16 years old. We support learners who have been permanently excluded from mainstream settings and provide preventative supportto those who are at risk of permanent exclusion.
