3rd Line Engineer

I'm working with a growing IT services provider in Reading that’s expanding its senior technical team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex technical issues, leading on infrastructure projects, and acting as a technical escalation point for 1st and 2nd line engineers.

As a 3rd Line Engineer, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-level support and infrastructure improvements across a varied client base. You’ll be responsible for resolving complex incidents, contributing to projects, and ensuring systems are secure, stable, and scalable.

• Act as the escalation point for 1st and 2nd line support
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure issues
• Deliver and support projects (migrations, upgrades, cloud transitions)
• Manage and maintain Microsoft 365 and Azure environments
• Support virtualised environments (VMware/Hyper‑V)
• Configure and maintain firewalls, networking, and security solutions
• Contribute to documentation and process improvement

• Proven experience in a 3rd Line Engineer or senior infrastructure role
• Strong Microsoft 365 and Azure experience
• Solid networking knowledge (DNS, DHCP, VLANs, Firewalls)
• Experience with Windows Server environments
• Virtualisation experience (VMware or Hyper‑V)
• Strong problem‑solving skills and a proactive mindset
