Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer - Data Centres / Building Services (Reading, Berkshire, Hybrid Working)
Circa £36k - £60k

This role is to join an established firm of consulting design engineers, specialising in mechanical and electrical services design across the built environment. The company designs and specifies the mechanical and electrical services for a range of buildings, with primary sectors of data centres and residential. The focus is on sustainable, low carbon design.
Progression. This is a great position to develop within, and you will be well supported with an emphasis on you being given space to work under your own initiative. Excellent opportunities exist for self‑motivated, ambitious engineers.
Responsibilities- Dependent on experience level, you will carry out tasks alone or with support/mentoring from an experienced senior electrical design engineer.
- Take the clients brief along with responsibility for the technical fulfilment.
- Attend project meetings with clients and other design team members, contractors, etc.
- Carry out condition surveys, feasibility studies, report writing, etc.
- Carry out site surveys for projects to obtain all relevant information required for carrying out scheme design.
- Carry out detailed scheme designs enabling competitive tenders to be obtained for the works.
- Write specifications for the works.
- Correspond with other design team members and the client on technical issues.
- Carry out calculations, both manual and by using computer‑based systems.
- Building Services Degree, Electrical Design Degree or other related higher educational qualification (HNC/HND)
- Preferably chartered or working towards chartership.
- Experience with in a building services design role in a consultancy environment.
- Experience of 3‑5 years, including calculations, drawings, specifications.
- Must be a British passport holder due to the nature of some projects.
- Hold a full UK driving licence.
