Are you a skilled Electronics Engineer with a passion for low-power design and energy‑efficient systems? Our client, an innovative and fast‑growing engineering company based in Reading, is looking for an engineer to contribute to the early‑stage development of a new generation of high‑efficiency, low‑power motor control solutions.
The OpportunityThis is a rare chance to join at the ground level of a forward‑looking programme focused on minimising power consumption while maximising performance. You’ll play a key role in shaping system architecture, influencing how energy is managed, converted, and optimised across the product lifecycle.
Working in a collaborative R&D environment, you’ll help develop next‑generation low‑power electronic systems for torque‑controlled applications where efficiency, thermal performance, and intelligent power management are critical.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop low‑power electronic systems and components for torque‑controlled applications
- Optimise power conversion efficiency across inverters, converters, and motor drive systems
- Implement energy‑saving techniques, including advanced switching strategies and power management methods
- Work across the full product lifecycle, from concept through validation and production
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including mechanical, control systems, and embedded software engineers
- Perform simulation, testing, and analysis with a focus on efficiency, thermal performance, and power loss reduction
- Support prototyping of energy‑efficient, compact designs suitable for real‑world deployment
- Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related discipline
- Strong understanding of power loss mechanisms, efficiency optimisation, and thermal considerations
- Experience with simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, LTspice)
- Familiarity with control algorithms focused on energy efficiency is desirable
- Understanding of embedded systems and power management techniques is a plus
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, evolving R&D environment
