An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Planner to join a highly respected national planning consultancy in their Reading office.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious graduate or early-career planner looking to develop their skills and build a successful career within a supportive and collaborative planning team. You'll gain exposure to a wide variety of projects across the residential, commercial, retail, logistics, mixed-use and strategic land sectors, working alongside experienced planning professionals on projects throughout the UK.

The Role

As an Assistant Planner, you will work closely with senior colleagues, supporting the delivery of planning projects from initial site appraisal through to planning determination.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the preparation and submission of planning applications
  • Undertaking planning research and policy reviews
  • Supporting the preparation of planning statements and supporting documentation
  • Conducting site appraisals and development assessments
  • Liaising with local authorities, clients and external consultants
  • Assisting with planning appeals and representations
  • Monitoring planning policy and legislative changes
  • Supporting project management and client reporting

This role provides excellent exposure to the full planning process and the opportunity to work on a diverse range of development projects.

About You

We are keen to hear from enthusiastic and motivated individuals who are looking to establish their career within the planning profession.

You will ideally have:

  • A RTPI-accredited Town Planning degree or postgraduate qualification
  • A genuine interest in the UK planning system and development industry
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organisational and analytical abilities
  • A proactive and professional approach to work
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
  • A willingness to learn and develop professionally

A full UK driving licence would be advantageous, although not essential.
