Decommissioning Engineer

Reading, UK (Onsite, 5 days per week) - Duration: 12 Month
- Rate - £60 Per hour Outside IR35
Are you an experienced Decommissioning Engineer looking to join a high-hazard facility programme in the UK. This is a hands-on, boots-on-ground role supporting the mechanical decommissioning of a highly regulated plant. The work involves handling decommissioned equipment in air-fed suits within controlled environments, ensuring strict adherence to health, safety, and regulatory protocols.

Key Responsibilities
Conduct mechanical decommissioning activities safely and efficiently
Work on-site in high-hazard areas requiring air-fed suits
Handle, dismantle, and prepare plant equipment for decommissioning and disposal
Ensure compliance with all site safety, quality, and regulatory standards
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to maintain project timelines and targets
Participate in planning, risk assessments, and HAZOP-style reviews where required
Skills & Experience Required
Proven experience in mechanical decommissioning or high-hazard industrial environments
Comfortable working in fully PPE-compliant, restricted-access areas
Ability to work onsite full-time (5 days per week)
Strong understanding of safety-critical operations and high-hazard procedures
Excellent teamwork and communication skills
Desirable
Experience working in nuclear or highly regulated industrial environments
Previous exposure to air-fed suit operations or similar high-hazard PPE environments
Experience in long-term projects (12-36 months) with large engineering teams
