Electronic Design Engineer / Hardware Engineer

We're looking for an experienced Electronics Engineer to join a specialist engineering team on a contract basis. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the design, development, testing and support of innovative electronic products, working from initial concept through to production.
As Electronics Engineer, you will lead electronic design activities, supporting new product development and existing product ranges, and collaborate with manufacturing partners and external design consultants to deliver high-quality solutions.
Key accountabilities for Electronic Design Engineer:
Leading the design and verification of new electronic products
Supporting and enhancing existing designs and products
Developing schematics, system architectures and PCB designs
Carrying out prototype testing, validation and calibration activities
Working closely with production teams and contract manufacturers
Supporting regulatory compliance including CE, RoHS and LVD requirements
Maintaining technical documentation, test specifications and engineering records
Driving continuous improvement, obsolescence management and design-for-manufacture activities
To succeed in this role, you will likely have:
Degree qualified (or with commensurate experience) in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline
In-depth experience in electronics design and development
Strong mixed-signal (analogue and digital) circuit design experience
Experience with small-signal analogue design and high-sensitivity receiver/detector circuits
Proven experience using PCB design tools such as Altium (highly desirable), EAGLE, PADS or OrCAD
Hands-on use of laboratory test equipment including oscilloscopes and spectrum analysers (ideal)
Experience working with microcontrollers, embedded hardware, FPGAs or programmable devices
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
