Position: Technical Services Manager (MEP Preconstruction) - Electrical
The Opportunity

A growing design & build contractor is looking to appoint an Electrical Technical Services Manager to support the technical development of MEP packages throughout preconstruction.

This position would suit an electrical building services professional who enjoys influencing projects early, improving design quality, supporting bid teams and ensuring technical certainty before work reaches site.

Working alongside commercial, design and preconstruction teams, you will play a pivotal role in securing and de-risking projects across a diverse portfolio of commercial developments.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the electrical technical development of MEP packages during preconstruction.
Review electrical designs, specifications and employer's requirements.
Assess LV infrastructure, power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting and specialist systems.
Review fire alarms, security, access control, data and life-safety systems.
Identify technical and commercial risks before contract award.
Support subcontractor selection, technical interviews and tender reviews.
Coordinate design development with consultants and contractors.
Challenge designs to improve compliance, buildability and value.
Support surveys, technical workshops and client meetings.
Produce comprehensive technical handovers for operational teams.

Ideal Background

Electrical building services background.
Experience as a Technical Services Manager, Electrical Manager, Building Services Manager, MEP Manager or Preconstruction Manager.
Strong understanding of power, lighting, life-safety and infrastructure systems.
Experience reviewing technical submissions and contractor proposals.
Ability to identify design risks and technical compliance issues.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
