Casual – Part time – As and when needed basis

We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable Casual Technicians to join our Technical Team, supporting a wide variety of performances and events across Reading Arts venues - these will include The Hexagon, South Street Arts Centre and Reading Concert Hall.

About The Role:

To find out more about the Reading arts offering please visit:  As a Casual Technician, you will assist with the preparation, operation and dismantling of productions and events, helping to ensure performances run smoothly and safely.

  • Loading and unloading scenery, staging and technical equipment.
  • Assisting with event set-ups and get-outs.
  • Supporting the maintenance and upkeep of technical equipment.
  • Helping to keep technical areas safe, tidy and secure.
  • Following Health & Safety procedures at all times.
  • Working alongside experienced technical staff and visiting production teams.

This is a casual role, with shifts offered as required to support our programme of events.

Working hours may include:

  • Evenings
  • Bank Holidays
  • Long and varied shifts depending on event requirements

You will have the opportunity to work across The Hexagon Theatre, South Street Arts Centre and Reading Concert Hall, gaining valuable experience in a busy live events environment.

About You:
  • Have a genuine interest in theatre, live events or the entertainment industry.
  • Are hardworking, enthusiastic and willing to learn.
  • Can communicate effectively and work as part of a team.
  • Are able to undertake manual handling duties, including lifting and carrying equipment.
  • Are comfortable working at heights (training and equipment provided where required).
  • Have excellent timekeeping and reliability.

A full, clean driving licence would be advantageous but is not essential.
