Job DescriptionLove performing? Get paid to make science the best bit of a child's birthday - at parties near you.
Sublime Science runs science parties, school shows and festival workshops for 5-12 year olds. We're looking for confident, high-energy freelance presenters who live in or near Reading, Newbury, Wokingham and the surrounding towns to bring our shows to life.
? We hire from a 2-minute phone self-tape, not a CV - so you can show us your personality from day one.
What you'll earn
- A minimum of £70 per event - this covers up to an hour of show time plus your travel time, a quick call with the customer beforehand, set-up and pack-down
- £20 an hour after the first hour - a 60-90 minute party pays £70-£80, and a school day (usually 9am-3pm) pays £170
- Mileage paid at 45p a mile
Freelance, made easy
- You're self-employed, but we do the admin - your invoices are prepared for you
- Choose your events in your own presenter portal, with a calendar of your bookings
- All the kit is provided - there's just a £150 refundable kit deposit, taken from your first pay
What a party looks like
You drive straight from home to a party near you, set up your kit and run an hour or so of slime, rockets and bubbles for around 20 excited children. Our office team handles every booking, payment and customer question - you just turn up and be brilliant.
You'll be great at this if you
- Can hold the attention of a room full of kids - performing, teaching, children's entertaining or holiday-club experience all help
- Are reliable - families are counting on you for their child's big day
- Have a full UK driving licence and your own car
- Are free most weekends (weekday school bookings are a bonus)
No science degree needed. We give you full training, all the equipment and a show that works.
Freelance, flexible and genuinely fun work. We can't wait to see what you can do!
