A PE-backed professional services group is seeking an experienced Interim Finance Director to support one of its recently acquired businesses during a key period of growth and integration.
The acquired business generates approximately £5m in annual revenue and forms part of a wider buy-and-build platform backed by a leading private equity investor. Reporting directly to the Group CFO, you will take ownership of the finance function, leading a small on-site team of two finance professionals while acting as a trusted partner to local leadership and the wider group.
This is a hands‑on role within a lean finance environment (two direct reports, a Management Accountant and a Cashier), requiring someone who can quickly establish credibility, deliver accurate reporting, and provide commercial insight during an important transition period.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver accurate and timely monthly management accounts.
- Produce departmental reporting and key business performance metrics.
- Manage month‑end close and reporting into the wider group.
- Provide analysis and insight to support operational and strategic decision‑making.
- Maintain robust financial controls, governance, and compliance processes.
- Oversee VAT reporting and statutory requirements.
- Partner with senior stakeholders across the acquired business and group.
- Support ongoing integration and process improvement initiatives.
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
- Previous experience as a Finance Director, Financial Controller, or senior finance leader within an SME or mid‑market business.
- Strong management reporting and financial control experience.
- Comfortable leading a small team whilst remaining hands‑on operationally.
- Professional services experience advantageous but not essential.
- Audit‑trained candidates will be viewed favourably.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Available to start on or around 1 July 2026.
The process will be fast‑moving, with a maximum of two interview stages.
If you feel you align with the above, please apply. Given the number of applicants, we may struggle to provide feedback to all unsuccessful applicants.
