Overview

We are looking to enhance our team with the addition of a Tax Manager who will work in a creative, entrepreneurial and supportive environment. The role focuses on managing a varied portfolio of corporate clients with complex tax affairs, ensuring excellent client service and identification of further work opportunities. The Corporate Tax Manager will work on advisory projects and technical assignments and participate in business development opportunities, proposals and networking events to contribute to the firm’s future growth.

This is a hybrid role with a mix of home and office work.

Responsibilities
  • Managing relationships and acting as the main point of contact for clients.
  • Liaising with clients throughout the year to maintain excellent client service.
  • Ensuring clients’ tax affairs comply with statutory requirements and managing compliance work efficiently.
  • Identifying and advising on tax planning opportunities and undertaking specialist technical assignments as required.
  • Managing assignments in accordance with the firm’s standard procedures, confirming arrangements with the client including costs and billing, and ensuring the work meets targets for recovery.
  • Researching and supporting the preparation of proposals for new work and taking part in formal presentations to prospective clients.
  • Actively participating in business development activities and client seminars with effective follow-up.
  • Coordinating with other departments to identify and service client needs.
  • Developing knowledge of the firm’s specialist services and undertaking special work in response to client needs where appropriate.
  • Maintaining an advanced level of technical knowledge through reading and courses and fulfilling professional bodies’ CPD requirements.
  • Acting as a line manager for staff, including developing team members through on-the-job training and appraisals.
  • Briefing junior staff on clients and instructions, and supervising the completion of work.
  • Attending staff meetings and training as required.
  • Maintaining awareness of Health and Safety issues within the firm and reporting concerns appropriately.
  • Carrying out other duties within the scope of the job as requested by the line manager or senior leadership.
Qualifications
  • ACA qualified (or equivalent).
  • CTA qualified preferred, or proven tax advisory experience.
  • Experience in a client-facing role.
  • Proven experience in client handling and managing a busy portfolio.
  • Proven experience in business development and converting relationships into fee-paying work.
  • Previous experience operating at Assistant Manager, Manager or a similar role is required.
